Deal 7 stacks of cards face down in front of you. The first stack should contain 1 card, the second 2 cards, and so on. Flip the top card of each stack face up. Keep space for 4 slots of cards at the top.
The goal of Solitaire is to play all 13 cards for each of the 4 suits in order from A to K in the 4 slots at the top. So, A
♥ must be played first, then 2
♥ , and so on. The suits do not need to played in sync, so you can play 4
♠ before you play A
♦ .
The 7 stacks below are played differently. You may only move a card to another stack if it's 1 smaller in rank, and opposite in color. So a 4
♦ can be moved under a 5
♠ or 5
♣ , but not under a 5
♥ . When you move cards from the 7 stacks dealt below, you may flip over the top card of that stack.
Additionally, you may flip over cards from the deck 3 at a time, and play the top card from there. Once you get through the deck, you simply flip it back over and start again. Cards can be moved freely between the 4 slots at the top and the 7 stacks below, as long as the rules outlined above are followed.
When one of the 7 stacks below is empty, only a K may be placed there.
