The game is played over multiple rounds. The number of cards dealt reduces by one on each successive round. On the first round, deal as many cards as possible so that each player has the same number of cards. For instance, with 6 players, deal 8 cards to each player. The remaining cards are set aside face down.
Gameplay is preceded by bidding. The player to the left of the dealer bids first, and bidding proceeds clockwise. Players must bid how many tricks they think they can make; the trump suit rotates in a predetermined order of Spades, Diamonds, Clubs, Hearts, and no-trump.
Players can bid any number they'd like, including 0, except the dealer. The dealer is forbidden from bidding the number that would that would cause the total number of tricks to equal the total bid. For instance, in a game where players are dealt 8 cards, and the previous bids add up to 7, the dealer may not bid 1.
Once bidding is complete, the player to the left of the dealer starts play. At the end of the round, points are recorded, and the dealer rotates.
Any player that completed their bid receives 10 points in addition to their bid. Players that were either above or below their bid receive 0 points.
